Google shopping is becoming more dominant in Google’s search results. Therefore, it is important that you as a company are involved in the battle for shopping places. Whether you are a small, medium or large company, there are no fundamental difference regarding ads on Google Shopping. You can read more about this here.

Many people believe that only larger companies appear on Google Shopping, as they are the ones who usually have a larger budget. This is known from Google’s search text ads, where you’re part of an auction, where high CPCs and Quality Scores help determine the ranking of your ad.

How does Google Shopping work?

Google Shopping lists the products that are most often related to the search results. This means that if you, as a small business, have a product that is more relevant to the customer’s search, you will appear ahead of your competitors. Thus, it can also be an advantage for smaller businesses to be visible on Google shopping.
When a customer clicks on a shopping ad, they are usually further down the buying funnel than if they click on a text ad. This is because shopping ads show a picture, a price and a short description, which means that the customer has the most important information about the product before they click on your ad. This leads to a higher probability that the click will lead to a conversion. Every business wants all clicks to lead to conversions and as a business you can make an effort to increase your Google Shopping conversion rate.
