Shark Gaming is a leading gaming webshop, which sells PCs, laptops and gaming equipment in all of the Nordic countries.

Shark Gaming is created by a team of specialists and enthusiastic gamers with the objective to be the Nordic countries’ preferred brand of gaming computers. And with world class computers they have the basis for Nordic growth on the digital marketing platforms.

They have, for three years, been sponsoring one of the greatest CS teams in the world, Astralis, which has broken all the possible records in E-Sports. They are furthermore, right now, sponsoring the Danish team, Heroic, who are number two worldwide. They are also sponsors for almost all of the E-Sports events in the Nordic countries.

The challenge

The challenge for Shark Gaming Systems, when Iternum Digital spoke with them for the first time, was that they needed a digital marketing agency, who can deliver a quality solution to them.

They didn’t make enough money on their products and their ROAS was way too low. They had been through several agencies, who all had different approaches to the optimization of their data and performance. It was difficult for them to choose which way to go with their marketing budget, and which agency to use.

When the CEO, Daniel Gerhardt, crossed paths with Iternum Digital, he chose to say yes to a digital marketing analysis of their data.

At Iternum Digital they focus a lot on data, especially on the quality of said data. Iternum offered to do an analysis of our tracking setup in combination with a creative and quantitative analysis of our paid marketing channels, such as e.g. Google Ads. The solution

The collaboration with Shark Gaming resulted in a digital marketing strategy where several digital challenges had to be solved and a lot of marketing channels had to be tested and optimized but there was, first and foremost, a lot of data to get under control in order to establish a proper foundation (data model) to optimize from.

The approach to data is something that both, Shark Gaming and Iternum Digital put a lot of value in and it was one of the primary reasons why Iternum Digital was chosen to take care of Shark Gaming’s digital marketing.

Claes Jensen, Head of PPC, was responsible for testing the tracking, which before the collaboration was set up via Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (Google MarTech Stack).

There were several technical errors that needed correction before the technical foundation for optimization of data was perfect.“, Claes Jensen explains.

With the foundation for tracking in order we were able to get started with the actual optimization and create performance. Shark Gaming had previously experienced collaboration with agencies where changes were not followed up and simply the data was not optimized often enough. With a market that is constantly changing and a target group that is expanding day by day, you have to constantly adapt.

At Iternum Digital, we know that optimization never ends. Digital marketing is data-driven work that requires regular and recurring optimization with the right competencies, processes and technology to create results. That is why we always as a minimum have monthly performance meetings, so that our customers are constantly updated on their data and performance across all channels.

As a part of this we have implemented a new BI-solution for Shark Gaming. Based on the wishes of Shark Gamings we have integrated eight different marketing channels and their belonging KPI’s in one performance dashboard across three different countries. A solution that has saved the company a lot of time and created a better overview, which makes it easier to keep the business on track.

Apart from creating transparency in the data and performance, it is also important to us that our customers always have a permanent team of contacts at Iternum Digital who are not replaced, so that customers always know who to contact. The specialists who also do the analysis are also the specialists who continuously optimize, and take responsibility for the results.

The results

In a short period of time after we took over Shark Gaming’s digital marketing on several marketing platforms like Google Ads, SEO and SoMe, we cleaned up their data and created the right structure and process for transparency. The results from there on quickly showed up.

Within 2 months we saw a 169.42% increase in revenue on Google Ads alone, while meeting our ROAS target.

Google Ads is the channel where Shark Gaming has the biggest cost. Therefore, it is also the channel that needs to be really well managed in order to create the best results.

Also on the SEO part we have achieved really good results since we took over the SEO optimization for Shark Gaming in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Shark Gaming is now in the 1st place on search terms such as “Gaming PC” on an incredibly competitive market.

If we have a look at the social media results we have tested Pinterest as a new channel with huge succes for Shark Gaming. Pinterest has lead to an impressive number of monthly views not to mention an average ROAS way above 100. This proves the importance of having the gut to be amongst firstmovers on a new platform.

There is, therefore, a great satisfaction to be traced over the collaboration which continues across several channels and several markets.
